Antonio Casanova y Estorach (Spanish artist, 1847-1896)

A nineteenth century Spanish painter and etcher, Casanova y Estorach studied art techniques in both Madrid and Rome under such masters as Federico Madrazo, Carlos Rivera and Claudio Lorenzale. Showing early promise, he began exhibiting his paintings and etchings at major expositions in Madrid and Barcelona as early as 1865. Antonio Casanova moved permanently to Paris in 1876 and for the following twenty years exhibited his art in that city.
