Franz Dvorak (Czech Republic, 1862 - 1927)


Frantisek Brunner (Czech Republic, Prague), known under the pseudonym Franz Dvorak, was a very well-known Czech painter of the turn of the 20th century from the Bohemian region. He studied at the Prague Academy from 1879 under F. Cermak, at the Vienna Academy and from 1883 at the Munich Academy under Wilhelm von Lindenschmidt and Brothers Seitz. Frantisek Brunner lived in Italy and France in 1886, then five years in the U.S. as a succesfull portraitist, from 1895 in Paris, 1904 again in Paris and finally in Prague. He exhibited regularly at the greatest international shows.
