George Lawrence Bulleid - Watercolour (English Painter, 1858-1933)

Painter, in oil and watercolour, of figure and mythological subjects and still-life. Born at Glastonbury, son of a local solicitor. Exhibited at the principal London galleries from 1884, mainly at the Royal Watercolour Society, Royal Academy (1888-1913), and Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (RWS). Elected ARWS 1889. Titles at the Royal Academy included 'Sacred to Venus', 1888 and 'An Offering to Apollo', 1889. The Studio, 1906, refers to his quality of "classic charm". Lived in Bath. The Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston, has a watercolour of flowers. His classical watercolours are similar to those of Henry Ryland, but painted in a more delicate style.
