Vicente Palmaroli Y Gonzàlez (Spanish artist, 1834-1896)


Palmaroli Vicente Gonzalez, was the son of Gaetano Palmaroli, an Italian painter who moved to Madrid where he was a litografo.Si trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid., Completing, from 1857 to 1866, his training in Rome. He later participated with the Spanish delegation at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, where he met Ernest Meissonier of which was influenced as can be seen from his paintings back to this soggiorno. Ricoprì the task of academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, director of the Academy of Spain in Rome and director of the Prado Museum from 1893 until his death.
