Francesco Brunery (1849–1926) - Italian academic painter.


Francesco Brunery (1849–1926), also known as Frappachino Brunson and as François Bruneri, was an Italian academic painter. He was born in Turin, Italy and studied with Jean-Léon Gérôme and Léon Bonnat. Brunery received an honorable mention at the Paris Salon of 1903. Francois Brunery painted genre scenes usually with cardinals or cavaliers. It is popularly believed that with Landini, Vibert and Crogaert, Brunery is one of the leading exponents of the “Cardinal School of Painters”.
